2010 A Metadata Odyssey « From Gunar.

2010 will be the year of metadata.  We are already experiencing this with the rise of Twitter, Bit.ly and other ‘micro’ data services.

Ironic that the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey,  2010:The Year We Make Contact was made in 1984 – as in Orwell 1984 (and the Apple’s famous Mac Ad) – both were written in the past about the future.  Well, aren’t sending probes to Jupiter nor living in a totalitarian society but access to open, fast and linked information has changed our society – and metadata is driving that change.

Metadata in 2010 will continue to grow in importance in the following 3 areas:

Speed

Relatedness

Integration
